The following can be read on the webpage of Statistics Finland about land use classification: “The site to be classified must have a surface area. Thus, a point-form site or a site with a small area is not taken into account or classified.”

Sites Point-form or Small in Area is a three-part environmental artwork. For the first part, I familiarised myself with approximately one hectare of woodland, south of Rajatalo in Keuruu and searched for “point-form” and other sites small in area. From these sites, I selected a few, located them with the help of a gps, drew their outline and titled them. The coordinates of the sites were placed on the map with the assistance of a surveying engineer, and a route map was produced in collaboration with a graphic designer. The map was printed and placed in the woods of Rajatalo, so that it could be seen from the steps of the house, encouraging visitors to go deeper into the woods. The map is the second part of the work. In the third part of the work, visitors follow the map and go into the woods to find the sites. The sites have been placed on the map in their real locations and in the correct scale, making it possible, in theory at least, to locate the sites using the map.
